The joy of cherries

My kids fell in love with cherries this summer. For those of you outside of the US that for some reason cherries seem very expensive here. I grew up eating cherries all summer long and most of them were free since they grew on trees all over the place. Anyway this year I went ahead and paid something like $3.99 a pound and here are the results.

All of my kids fell in love with them and ever since they have been asking to get them each time we go grocery shopping.

Now when it comes to eating cherries my kids are well, see for yourself.

Let me assure you they ate cherries.

They had a bucket with water next to them and were not allowed to touch anything else until they washed properly.

Now, the only person that knows how to eat neatly in our family is Jo.

What a cutie. Do not get me wrong she is learning the piggy style from her siblings quickly. There are just some sorts of food she refuses to get messy with. And thank goodness cherries is one of those.

Cherries anyone?

We are alive ...

... and well. It has been crazy in our household for the last two months. First of all we started school (just started our 8th week) then tap and ballet dancing (girls) and soccer. Yep, our calendar looks insane some days. But we love it and enjoy most of the days. I have a few pictures to share from our busy schedules.

We have 3 kids on 3 different soccer teams this year. (Jo cannot wait to start in the spring.) That means 3 soccer practices and 3 - 5 games a week. There are times when I think we should just move to the soccer fields.

Emma is our scoring machine this year and her goal average is 4 goals a game at least.

During the kids soccer practice we enjoy playgrounds which are close by and here are my girlies with Sam (their babysitter for the hour while mom and dad watch Nate's practice).

I am sure those cuties keep him busy.

The boys learned how to launch rockets this week with Daddy and Uncle Vittee.It was fun to watch them get ready.

The girls even brought their little babies with them for the big show.

Fun With Uncle Vittee

Everyone ready for a jump?Well uncle Vittee was (not us). We were just ready to cheer him on.
Last Saturday we went up to Maine to a New England drop zone to watch Vittee jump in his wing suit.

We had fun just watching him go up and down (up and down and one more time up and down)

He landed safely every single time.

Let me tell you this place was busy. The plane went up every 20 minutes with tons of skydivers.

Vittee sure loves his hobby.

The kids were busy playing and watching other skydivers all day long.

I know I am missing Jo in this picture but hey three out of four is good right?

Harvest from my Garden

This year the girls have been a big help in my little garden. They helped me plant early in the spring and we all watched how all the different seeds started sprouting and. We are now getting to enjoy some of the fruit (vegetables) of our hard work.

I have no idea why but the summer squash has been out of control this year. I have been blessed so much I already gave away tons to my neighbors, friends and we eat summer squash almost daily.

(as you can see they are not small either)We did plant some flowers around the house.

Since we have been blessed in the squash department this summer we have been eating a lot of it lately. Here is one of the lunches we enjoyed this week and it was a big hit.
