NYC Day 2.

On day two we started nice and early. We got into town (from Woodside) with the help from the boys. They are becoming a very good traveler. I do not have to worry about stops and metro numbers. They got it all down. They love studying maps. We started our day at B&H photo store. Again this was one of the stops that we didn't take any pictures. I had no idea this store was going to be so big. It is a unique experience and if you are a photo/video enthusiast this is a must stop in the big Apple. The next stop was the SONY lab. It is one of many things you can do in NYC for FREE!!! (and we like free)

You can rent a bike by the hour or for the whole year in the city! You can see their parking stations all over town. What a great way to get around the city.

The kids learning to program a robot. We even got to perform bypass surgery form a computer on heart (My patient didn't die by the way :) ).

After a nice walk we met up with the grandparents at Rockefeller center.

We didn't get too far because there was a Lego store!

After reading up on Empire State Building and Top of the Rock we decided to visit Top of the Rock this time (the boys visited the Empire State Building last time we were in town with uncle Vittee). These attraction is NOT free. :(

Next stop American Girl. OK so this was Emma's third time visiting the NYC store. I lost count on how many times we were in the Boston one.

We ended the day at the library. Yes we are that weird. We love books and we all love to read. However this activity was one of the FREE places to visit and we even got to see the original Winnie the Pooh and his friends!

They change over the years however it is kind of interesting to learn how they came to life.

This is a very big library with several floors that offer all kinds of books. The top floor has a Guttenburg Bible on display.

Not a bad place to work on your homework.

At the end of the day we need to do some laundry and what a better place to experience the joy of doing laundry then in the city.

The girls had a blast and I was surprised we didn't get kicked out.

I believe we were the only people in the laundromat that were so enthusiastic about laundry that night.

NYC Day 1

American Museum of Natural History

I know it has been A LONG time since I posted on my blog (as I have been reminded by several family members). Somehow our lives got busy in the fall with soccer, dance, school etc. It has been a good busy time for our family. 

Early in the fall our family took a trip to NYC with the grandparents. This trip had been postponed for a year due to a super storm Sandy last year. We all have been looking forward to this trip for some time and all of us couldn't wait to go to the big city.

On our first day we spent most of our time at the American Museum of Natural History. Who hasn't seen "Night at the Museum" should do so. Even if the movie's version of the museum is different it was still fun to look for certain exhibits similar to the movie.

Dum dum. Again you have to see the movie to understand why our family was hunting down this statue from Easter Island. Nate is holding a pack of gum so he wouldn't be called "Dum dum :)"

This picture is for Uncle Vittee (whom we missed) our trip wouldn't be complete without somebody digging for gold.

 Our next stop ended up being a grocery store Zabaras. Grandma found it in one of her guides as a must stop while you are in the city. As you can see we have no pictures from our visit. I guess we were so amazed we all forgot to take any! We had a yummy early dinner and went a little overboard with shopping (cheeses from all over the world!) If you are in the city this is a MUST. Don't be afraid prices were very reasonable. We ended up sending the boys back with our loot and us girls took a nice walk through the park.

I think one of these would be ok to own.

A NYC trip would not be complete without a visit to the Big Piano.

We had the piano to ourselves for some time.

I know E. has closed eyes and J. is not looking into the camera but I am never in any pictures so I will take this one. I love my girls! Fun time in the city!
