Two years ago today ...

... we held our baby girl for the first time. I thought that day would never come. We hit so many bumps along the way. Here we are all together two years later. Two years later it feels like Jo has been part of our family from the begining. I know there is 9 month span that we know very little about. However, today it feels like I had her since the day she was born. I love when she runs to me screaming on top of her lungs: "mommy!!!!!!!!!". I love the way she loves her daddy and all her siblings. I love the way her siblings love her.

She is and always has been part of our 'little' family.

God has been good to us and we are very thankful.

Sunday Reflections

We must be aware of the various ways sin pulls us to wrong thoughts about God, righteousness, grace, ourselves and sin itself. Only the truth of God's word and meditation in prayer can reveal the deceitfulness of sin. Sin works against God. Sin will either deceive us into thinking God is a cruel taskmaster, or, if that will not work, will deceive us into thinking He is like a doting grandfather who really does not care what we do. Sin affects every Christian's view of God and leads us to worship idols, figments of our own imaginations, and not the true God. Sin will deceive us concerning grace. We will either be deceived into thinking it is too good to be true, or we will buy into cheap grace and think that ethics are unimportant.
--Dr. Bob Flayhart, Oak Mountain Pres. Church In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point shedding your blood. And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
Hebrews 12:4-6

Beach Day in March

We made it to the beach this week. Can you believe that? And we were not all bundled up and we actually stayed awhile and enjoyed a nice early spring type day on a New England beach.

I believe this is the earliest warm day at the beach in March. I just hope spring is here and it will get only warmer.

We all had a great time. It got a little windy at the end.

What a beautiful day.

Sunday Reflection

Most of us find it very difficult to want "Heaven" at all - except in so far as "Heaven" means meeting again our friends who have died. One reason for this difficulty is that we have not been trained: our whole education tends to fix our minds on this world. Another reason is that when the real want or Heaven is present in us, we do not recognize it. Most people, if they had really learned to look into their own hearts, would know that they do want, and want acutely, something that cannot be had in this world. There are all sorts of things in this world that offer to give it to you, but they never quite keep their promise.
--C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:15
For God so Loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

Snow Ball Fight

What do you do when you wake up to a 7 inch snow surprise? Have a good old snow ball fight.

Let's get daddy.

Emma cannot wait for spring. I have no idea how she can ride her bike with boots on. Please take note she has a helmet on. That's my girl.

Watch out dad!

Jo getting comfortable.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Time out for making a snow man.

Sorry Jo the snow man is still taller than you.

What a fun day in the snow with dad.
