Tram Museum - Prague

After our second group returned from their German/Polish adventure we moved to Fil's parents place in the big city (Prague). On Thursday Fil and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. The grandparents offered to watch our kids so Fil and I spend most of the day in town on our own. I didn't take camera with me since we both wanted to enjoy our time together and just relax and feel the city around us that we used to be part of. We even had lunch at a restaurant where we used to go on dates. 

The boys, uncle Vittie and grandpa enjoyed the technical museum and a long walk as well. At night we all went to a theater to see a production called Slapstick. It had some ballet in it for the girls to enjoy and it was funny to keep the boys entertained. They are very good about our cultured experiences.

On Friday we all slept in a little bit after a late night. I ended up staying home with the girls (Emma got sick as well but with some kind of flu). We also arrived in Europe with spring in the air and most of us got hit with allergies. The rest of the group headed into the city. In the afternoon Fil and I went to a chocolate museum on our own (can you believe it a second date in one week!!!)

On Saturday we all headed out into the world to visit a Public Transport Museum. and to take a ride through Prague on an old tram.

We had a nice ride through Prague. Public transportation is a everyday thing for local people. It is one of the main things I miss.

 

In the evening we said good bye to uncle Vittee. We will miss him!!!

Jirikov

We spend the night on the Czech side of the border close to a place where the kids grandma was born. I will post pictures from our "on the border" experience later with our crazy hugging, kissing and shaking hands on both German and Czech sides.

We had a nice evening with a long walk and good night sleep. Well almost a good night sleep for most of us. Nate woke us up early in the morning on Wednesday that he got sick in the middle of the night and man was he sick. I spend most of the early morning cleaning their room while praying that he was on the mend and we could continue on our trip.

 

After breakfast we explored the little town called Jirikov where Grandma is from.

House in town. I am sad to say that work and jobs are scarce in these parts of the Czech republic and little towns like this are falling apart.

We were sure glad we were not staying at this hotel.

Nate is not present at any of these pictures since he was not feeling well at all.

After I took the last picture I returned to the car to check on Nate. Soon after he got sick again and I knew our trip to Hernhutt (Germany)came to an end and I had to head home back to my mom's house. We split our traveling party into two groups and one continued on their scheduled trip and the rest of us headed back. Nate was sick all the way home and fell asleep at the end.

I will post a picture from the other group and their travel experience later.

Dresden

 

Our last stop (still on Tuesday) before we headed to our hotel room was the city of Dresden. This town was completely bombed at the end of WWII and as you can see it has been restored to its original beauty.

 After we refilled some energy we visited Dresden Frauenkirche (Lutheran church).-site in German

 And we walked slowly back to our cars by The Fürstenzug on Augustusstraße.

 As you can tell our day was packed with lots of stop and we were not even at our hotel yet.

Meissen

Our next stop on Tuesday was the town of Meissen (site in English) known for Meissen porcelain (site in English, German, Italian, Russian, Asian Pacific, Middle East).

This charming set can be purchased for 3,062 Euros.

 We took a tour of this factory and I believe all the kids enjoyed this stop.

Every single piece is hand painted. Many of you know I own a dining set with this pattern however I do not own Meissen porcelain I collect Czech version of this pattern called Cibulak (site in Czech, English, German and Russian).

They even had a room for little kids to express their creativity (and rest).
