Thanksgiving week in pictures

We started Thanksgiving last Saturday by celebrating with our good friends the Laughner's. I do not know what I was thinking about taking a picture of the kids at the end of the day. You can see they got their bellies full and spent most of the time playing outside (that explains Nate's green knees). We had a great time.

I did not take any pictures of the turkey this year but can tell you it was good. The only picture I took of any type of food is this one. We celebrated Thanksgiving Day with our friends from church this Thursday (total of 24 people) with lots of yummy food and great fellowship.

And we ended this crazy week by decorating the house for Christmas including a Christmas tree. I had tons of helpers.

The girls did a great job now if I only can keep their little hands off the tree.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Making Christmas gifts and my FIRST GIVEAWAY

A while back I wrote I was working on Christmas presents. Somehow in the busyness of the fall I forgot to post what I was working on. Well I came across someones blog in which they were melting old crayons into fun shapes. I too have been collecting broken crayons over the years and it was time to do something with them. I put my girls to work right away. They did not last too long. I do have to say be careful to whom you assign this job to. Jo has been peeling all the crayons she can get her little hands on since.

Then I remembered that I had a big box with tons of crayons boxes.

And this is what I ended up doing. All the kids love the little crayon's 'rocks'.

That being said (written) I am giving one set away (total of 24 colors). All you have to do it to leave a message :) the kids and I will draw a winner next Monday.

Let all your friends know. This will be a great stocking stuffer :)

Trains

One of our friends from church is a train collector and builds models in his basement. He invited us earlier in the week to see his display. First of all let me tell you a person with this passion has to have lots of patience. I do not think I ever saw a 'private' display this big and it is not even finish yet. It took him two years to build this and he told me he has about two more years to completely finish it. I have no idea how we managed not to break anything with eight kids (mine plus his grandchildren) down there and only three adults.

The boys each took turns 'driving' the train around the through the tunnels.

There is so much details in every train and building.

Emma was very into it (Jo lost interest as soon as she found out there was no Thomas the tank engine and she was not allowed to touch anything).

Staples

I know I know. It has been too long since I posted. It has been crazy in the Steiger household. So just in case you were wondering what is going on well ....

we made one trip to the ER last week and yes those are staples on top of Sam's head. There is not a big story behind it. He was trying to get a cup for a drink and hit his head on the bottom of cabinet door (10 minutes after we got home from the Dr. office with Jo's ear infection). Yep life is good. He is doing great (staples are coming out next week).

Other than that, lots of coughs and sniffles we are doing great and are looking forward to the holidays.

My baby turned 9 today

Nine years ago our first baby was born. There was a big snow storm in Denver that day.

Sam was 5 weeks early but a very healthy baby ready to tackle the world. He was small but he hasn't stopped growing since.

Where did my little baby go?
