Strawbery Banke

Our next stop last Friday was Strawbery Banke Museum. We have visited this museum several times, last time around Christmas for a Candle light stroll. It is always a great experience to step back in time even for just few hours. Again we obtained tickets through our local library (all of us got in for free). The rain was still holding off but the ground was very wet from the previous night.

 Our last stop was a new exhibit at the museum with hands on activities and what kid doesn't like to put their fingers on things.

Seacoast Science Museum

We have been back home a little over a week and rainy weather has followed us back home. In the beginning it didn't matter since we were busy getting back to our routines, doing laundry, finishing up school, playing with toys etc. 

Last Friday I couldn't take the rain anymore. I decided to head out no matter what since the kids and I were getting claustrophobic. Even with rain (no surprise there) in the forecast we were heading out. We took advantage of our local library and checked out a couple of passes to local museums on the coast and made a day out of it on Friday. We packed raincoats, umbrellas, snacks and headed out into the rainy world. 

Our first stop was Seacoast Science Museum. It is a small museum on the shore but with plenty of educational material for the kids (and adults).

 

One of the the kids favorite thing was the touch and feel water tank with live sea creatures.

I did miss the smell of the ocean while we were gone. Now if the sun would come out the summer would be almost here :)

He is 11

My baby boy is 11! I cannot believe it has been 11 years since we welcomed him to this world. He is growing into to a nice young man and he is already reaching for the starts.

 Nate requested a visit to our small planetarium on his birthday and after we finished our school work for the week we head up there.

 What a special day with my kiddos.

 I have been blessed to have them all in my life and I so thankful for their love for each other.

Kid Power

We all enjoyed another visit to the children's museum (I am writing all since all the adults had fun as well).

Water was a big hit with everybody until the little ones started to get wet (then the moms did not like it at all). Ok we let them splash one more time for the camera (bottom picture) since we knew it was way too cute not to make it to the blog.

We spent the entire morning at the museum, had lunch there then headed out to see other parts of Boston.

But that will have to wait for another day.

Children's Museum (Happy President's Day)

We spent our day in Boston today and took the kids to the Children's museum. It is one of their favorite places to go. The picture below is not only a picture of the museum but also the place where the 'Boston Tea Party' took place. The boys are enjoying history so much this year and I am taking advantage of every opportunity to show them the history around us (Boston Tea Party is one of their favorites). There is not much to see at this point (just water) There use to be a restaurant on the water but it looked like an old shack more then anything. They are trying to rebuild it again and I am looking forward to it.

We spent three hours inside and it turned out to be way too much for our girl. However we had a great time. Here is Nate climbing a three story high structure at the museum.

Jo lost it after 2 1/2 hours. I mean lost it BIG time. She screamed LOUD and there was nothing we could do about it. She wanted to play but was so tired and did not want to be in the stroller. I took her outside for a little walk and she screamed for 35 minutes and then she FINALLY fell asleep. During our walk on the boardwalk by the water (Boston as you all know is right on the ocean) one of the seagulls landed right next to me. He waited patiently for me to pull my camera equipment, while Jo was screaming bloody Mary, waiting till I got my setting done and posed for me.

After all the kids were done at the museum and Jo was sleeping we took a short walk in Boston (well we walked to our favorite restaurant). I am always amazed how they are trying to preserve the old buildings in Boston. I do not know if you can see it from the pictures but they keep the front of the building as it was supported it with all kind of iron beams and stuff and are build a new building behind it. I cannot wait to see it all done.
