Here are movies we watched during holidays (12/19-1/2).

Once is a Irish musical film. I wanted to see this movie for along time. I heard about it back in Spring. It caught my eye early on since the main actress in the movie is from the Czech Republic and you can hear a few Czech phrases thoughout the movie. Overall we liked the movie a lot but I have to warn you there is a lot of swearing like in any other European movie. I am sure we will hear about this movie around Oscar time for its great music.



Hehehehe. Ok Shrek the Third had some good jokes in there. Much better then the Second one.















Again we are probably one of the last people who saw this one. We liked the first one a lot and didn't care for the second one and I believe I can say ocean's Thirteen is pretty much same as the Ocean Eleven.


We did see the last Pirate movie when it came out but it was time to see it again since it came out on DVD. I wrote earlier that both of us are big Jerry Bruckheimer fans so there is no surprise we like all three movies.









I am sure most of you saw Meet The Robinsons. I didn't go to the movies with the boys so it was a first time for me and I liked it a lot.





I liked Ratatouille a lot. Well I do like to cook but rats in my kitchen. Emma got inspired by this movie and was cooking in her little kitchen throughout the movie and after.






Star Wors Episode IV, V, VI


I am sure I am one of the last people on this planet who haven't seen Star Wars. We let the boys watch first three episodes over the summer and uncle Vit got the rest of the three episodes for Christmas. So we have seen them all. My favorite is Episode IV.





Sky Captain


This is one of the movies I've seen few times since my hubby fell asleep in the past. The film takes place in an "alternate" late 1930s where there is no sign of Germany preparing for war or that America is in the grip of an economic depression. The fantastic technology, a mixture of super-advanced science and early 20th century points to an alternate history. Over all I like this movie.

Hot Rod


Ok Vit just because you asked.

I am sure I am one of the few people who saw this movie and Fil's brother made sure we saw this Oscar worthy film this Christmas. Please don't go out to get this movie because you saw it on my blog. You have to know Fil,s brother to enjoy this type of movie.

National Treasure - Book of Secrets

We have watched so many movies over the holidays and I will go back and write about them however I wanted to post about this one since we just got back from the movie theatre (thanks Vit for watching the kids).

Both Fil and I love the first National Treasure movie. We have watched it many times. So you can imagine that we wanted to see the Book of Secrets. I wasn't so sure that I would like this movie since I loved the first one and I was afraid that I would be disappointed. We LOVED this one as well and if you like all Jerry Bruckheimer movies you will like this one as well. I will just leave you with a thought that I think there will be another one.

planet earth

I am starting to see what a movie junkie I am. I wanted to post about planet earth even though we haven't finished watching this 5 disc set series. (each dvd about 150 minutes). This is a great Christmas present if any of you are looking for a last minute gifts.

Everybody in our family loves it and we are all learning something new. Beautiful pictures from around the world.

We do not own this series but we are able to enjoy it from our local library.

Amazing Grace

Last night Fil and I sat down to watch Amazing Grace . There is not much to add to this story the name speaks for it self.

As I thought about his movie this morning I think about heroes our generation worships. How many people (children) know about William Wilberforce and how many about Spiderman or Star Wars. Yet who who are the real heros in our lives who fought for what they believed to be right. I hope there will be more movies made like this one.

In an age and country fertile in great and good man, he was among the foremost of those who fixed the character of their times.

END of The SPEAR

I have been wanting to write about this movie for a while. We saw Beyond the gates of Splendor a few years back and this year I borrowed End of the Spear from our local library. Last week we decided to let our boys watch this powerful story. Before we let our boys watch the movie we made sure they were familiar with the story. First we learn about missionaries from around the world at home during school and this one came up few weeks ago and second Fil's parents are missionaries with HCJB.

I am not going to write review on this true story since much more qualified people already have done so. I highly recommend Plugged In Online web site (James Dobson) who does a great job. I included a link to their website for reviews.

I just wanted to recommend both of these movies to all of you. We all cried and it opened discussions with our boys about mission work and God's love and his timing. Sometimes we do not understand why things happen but God is in control and sometimes something tragic has to happen for others to have their eyes opened.

I would love to hear from you if you saw this movie (or read a book). I am also thinking about writing a few lines each time we watch some movie. I would love to hear from you on movies you have seen or recommend.
