I am slowly getting though my pictures from our trip. Anyway here are some textures from this beautiful country.

Can anyone recognize this wall? It is from the TH. I loved all the palm trees around the city of Addis. The temperature was perfect to begin with (around 80 F with low humidity everyday and sunny).

Memories from Ethipia - Windows & Doors

I will start this blog with a picture of the door that means a great deal to us. For those who do not recognize this door it is a door to TH (transitional home) where Jordan stayed for four months. We got to walk through this door several times during our visit to Ethiopia. The first time we actually got to drive though it and believe we are one of the few groups who actually got to drive though it.

The next three pictures are door to a church on top of Entono mountain.


I will end this blog with another door that means a lot to us. This is the entrance to an orphanage where Jordan came from.

What would a trip to Africa be without shopping right? Well here are pictures of stores we did NOT shop at.

I will admit we did stop at one of these stores (picture below). Well Rachel stopped and she told us to get stuff there. I remember thinking this is a place I should not be in the first place but we wanted to make Rachel happy so we did buy what she told us to buy (by the way it is where I got berber - Ethiopian spice). We ended up with the most delicious bread we had the entire time in Ethiopia. Ask Rachel when you are in ET. The store we stopped at was just around the corner from TH.

Memories form Ethiopia- Buildings

Since you got to see the streets of Addis yesterday I thought I should post pictures of buildings in Addis. The picture below shows pretty much how most of the people live in the capital city. You can see these neighborhoods all over the place. We were told that not all people living in "houses" like this are poor. Some people actually prefer to this lifestyle rather then our western type of living even if they have the means.Both Fil and I were shocked at all the construction happening in the city. You can tell Addis is growing every day.
This picture reminds me of Eastern Europe.



I was mainly shocked at the amount of satellite dishes on the 'houses'.
The picture below is the view from the TH. The barb wire is quite normal around all nice buildings (and all kinds of ministries which by the way are thoughout the city).

Some of you might know that Ethiopia was ruled by a communist regime for little bit. Here you can see some "leftovers" from that era.




More construction sites. An important question is whether the buildings will ever be completed. Some of these sites had nobody working on them. Nicer living areas on the main streets to the airport.
And this is how the king used to live. This is his palace.
